January 27, 2024 - Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers investigated a non-injury crash on Shelbyville Street, at the intersection of Industrial Boulevard, that occurred Thursday, January 25, 2024.

The preliminary crash investigation indicates that at approximately 5:30am, a 2018 Chevrolet Tahoe Center Police Department patrol unit driven by Officer Brandon Tyler of Nacogdoches was traveling north on Shelbyville Street, while a 2015 Dodge Dart driven by Jose Chavez, 57, of Nacogdoches was traveling west on Industrial Boulevard. It is reported that the driver of the Dodge failed to yield to the Chevrolet at the stop sign and pulled into its path where it was struck.

Officer Tyler and Chavez were not reported to have been injured. Chavez was cited for failing to yield right-of-way at a stop sign.
