Dr. Charles Tatum Celebrates 88 Years

March 4, 2019 - A few family and friends of Dr. Charles Edward Tatum attended the celebration of his 88th Birthday on Monday, February 25, 2019 at Belmont Village, Houston, Texas (his place of residence).

It was hosted by Sue Ann (Kathy) Mosby and his niece, Kristy McClelland. Kathy provided the home cooked food and drinks with a delicious peach cobbler for dessert. Sue Baby Lister sent a bag of homemade t-cakes from Center. Dr. Tatum's favorite apple spice cake was baked by Naenya Fountain Garrett which was decorated with a Japanese theme (chop sticks on top, of course). Many cards were received and read to him, and there were many telephone calls of well wishes for his birthday.

His brother, Willard; his niece, Kristy, and his sister-in-law, Myrtis McClelland along with Baby Lou Gardner were here from Center for this event. Others in attendance were Joan Garrett, Charles Swindell, Larry Osby, Sherry Henderson, Rev George Cartwright, Jervis Gill, Rev Horace Barron, and a few of the assistants at the Village. Dr.. Tatum was alert and proud that the day was being celebrated. He is resting well and we wish him the best of greetings. Dr. Tatum has written many books about his family and books about life in the East Texas Hills of Shelby County.
