The bulk of Gary High Schools damage was in the first inning. The Bobcats brought 12 batters to the plate and scored seven runs. Shelbyville fought back in the bottom of the first and Dylan Parker, Wyatt Frick and Gus Duvon scored the team’s only runs of the game to cut the GHS lead to 7-3.

Gary added another run when Brennan Stevens got on base after being hit by a pitch in the top of the third inning and he later scored on a Dragon’s throwing error to give Gary an 8-3 advantage. The final two runs of the game were scored in the top of the sixth when Tucker Grubbs singled to leftfield and Aiden Scogins tripled to leftfield to score Grubbs. Scogins scored later in the inning on a sacrifice bunt by Jacob Moffett which gave GHS the final 10-3 advantage that proved to hold up until the seven-inning game was completed.
