DRT Chapter to Honor Ancestors on Sept 24

September 17, 2016 - One of the missions of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas (DRT) is to honor our ancestors, to perpetuate the memory of the men and women who achieved and maintained the independence of Texas.

On Saturday, September 24th, the William Carroll Crawford Chapter will have a Memorial Medallion Ceremony for Elisha Berryman Adams and Nancy Collins Adams and for their great-granddaughter, Robbie Singletary Fletcher. Robbie was a member of our Chapter.

The ceremony will be at the Old Friendship Cemetery in Grand Cane, Louisiana at 10:30. There will be a caravan leaving the DRT Building on the Courthouse Square in Center at 9:30 AM, if you'd like to join.

If you do not wish to do this, here are the directions - From Center to Logansport to Longstreet, turn right on Hwy 3015 in Longstreet and when you get to Grand Cane turn right on Old Hwy 171 (in front of the businesses) go to the dead end, turn right then 1st street to the left on Blunt Mill Rd. Go about 2 miles, just past Blunt Farm (there is a large barn with name), turn right on Mounce Rd. Go about 1/2 mile, cemetery is on your right. Texas flags will mark the entrance.

You are cordially invited to help us honor these ancestors. For more information call Maggie at 248-3361 or Elizabeth at 598-8081.
