DRT Travellin' Trunk Makes it to the Library

July 8, 2015 - The DRT Travellin' Trunk made its way to the Summer reading program for Tweens at the Fannie Brown Booth Library in Center and gave a glimpse into every day life in early Texas.

Gail Sholar, Cynthia Webster and Maggie Casto of the William Carroll Crawford Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas and Gene Casto and Nolan Sholar of the Gateway to Texas Chapter of the Sons of the Republic of Texas stepped back into an earlier time with their audience. That time before there were Wal-marts and McDonalds, before there were schools and computer games, before electricity and telephones. They showed how clothing was made and food was obtained and prepared, what games children played, how music was made, how families made their life. A hard life. A good life. The life of our ancestors. Texans!!
