June 21, 2016 - In a culture where people do not want to hurt the feelings of those who perform at a substandard level we have it where “Everybody Gets a Trophy.” Sadly this same reasoning has been brought into the religious world. But the sad, hard reality is that not everybody will go to heaven, or get a trophy. The Bible says:
“But for the fearful, and unbelieving, and abominable, and murderers, and fornicators, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, their part shall be in the lake that burneth with fire and brimstone; which is the second death” (Rev. 21:8).
“and there shall in no wise enter into it anything unclean, or he that maketh an abomination and a lie: but only they that are written in the Lamb's book of life” (Rev. 21:27)
“Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these: fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousies, wraths, factions, divisions, parties, 21 envyings, drunkenness, revellings, and such like; of which I forewarn you, even as I did forewarn you, that they who practise such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God” (Gal. 5:19-20).
“Or know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with men, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God” (1 Cor. 6:9-10).
As Paul said, “Let no man deceive you with empty words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the sons of disobedience” (Eph. 5:6). Everybody does not get a trophy.
