Fairview Cemetery Texas Historic Marker Ceremony Set for Saturday, June 2

May 22, 2018 - Fairview Cemetery, established in 1901 as the second cemetery in the City of Center, will be the site of a Texas Historic Marker Dedication ceremony at 10am on Saturday, June 2, 2018.

Present will be Center’s Mayor David Chadwick, with members of the Center City Council, and members of the Shelby County Historical Commission (SCHC). The SC Historical Commission will be dedicating the marker and the site’s historical significance to the City of Center.

The cemetery is located off Shelbyville Street on Martin Luther King Drive, a 15.5-acre portion of the original Jesse Amason Survey. It is a beautiful venue shaded by many large, old trees, including cedar, oak, magnolia, crape myrtle, and others. Various early civic leaders and their families are interred within its boundaries.

Fairview Cemetery is owned and maintained by the City of Center. The public is invited to attend the Texas Historic Cemetery dedication ceremony.
