Find Cane River Creole NHP during National Park Week

Celebrate with Special Events from April 16-24

April 19, 2016 - NATCHITOCHES, LA – Celebrate the National Park Service’s 100th anniversary and “Find Your Park” at Cane River Creole National Historical Park during National Park Week, April 16 through 24. Music will fill the air as we go “on air” for Junior Ranger Day on April 23 at Oakland Plantation.  Junior Rangers can learn to play harmonic with Ed Huey and join Mike Snowden to make their own cigar box guitar.  Also, radio amateurs from the National Association of Radio Amateurs will be set up as part of “ARRL National Parks on the Air.”

During National Park Week, and throughout the centennial year, we invite everyone from near and far to come to Cane River Creole National Historical Park and experience all that we have to offer.  Throughout National Park Week there will be a daily guided cabin talk at 12:30 p.m. and a main house tour at 1:00 p.m. at Oakland Planation.  A guided walking tour of the grounds of Magnolia Planation will take place at 10:00 a.m. April 22 through April 24.

National Park Week is a great opportunity to explore the countless ways there are to #FindYourPark. Launched in March 2015, Find Your Park/Encuentra Tu Parque is a public awareness and education movement to inspire people from all backgrounds to connect with, celebrate, and support America’s national parks and community-based programs. Celebrating the National Park Service Centennial and setting the stage for the Service's next 100 years, #FindYourPark invites people to discover and share their own unique connections to our nation's natural landscapes, vibrant culture, and rich history.
