Flags at Half Staff on Patriot's Day

September 7, 2017 - Monday, September 11th, 2017 is Patriot’s Day when we remember those lost in the terrorist attack in 2001. US Flags (and any flying with) are to be lowered to half-staff at sunrise on this day and be raised at sunset.

If lowering at sunrise is not possible please lower the night before. If you fly a flag that cannot be lowered you can still show respect for the day by tying a black ribbon or cord to the top of the staff.  Flag owners are also encouraged to inspect their flags and replace those that are no longer fit to fly.

If you do not have a replacement it is always better to take down the damaged flag until a new one can be obtained.
