September 25, 2024 – The National Forests and Grasslands in Texas are waiving fees at day-use recreation sites on September 28 for National Public Lands Day.
“National Public Lands Day is an opportunity for us to come together as a community to give back to the public lands that give us so much. The national forests and grasslands offer recreation opportunities, wildlife habitat, and natural resources, and through our collective efforts with partners and volunteers, we ensure these treasured landscapes are protected and maintained for future generations to enjoy.,” Forest Supervisor Kimpton Cooper said.
Camping fees remain in effect, but day-use fees are waived on Saturday, September 28, at these recreation areas and trails:
Day-use fees will be waived at:
- Angelina National Forest – Boykin Springs, Caney Creek, and Townsend.
- Sabine National Forest – Haley’s Ferry, East Hamilton, Indian Mounds, Lakeview, Willow Oak, and Red Hill Lake.
- Davy Crockett National Forest – Ratcliff Lake.
- Sam Houston National Forest: Cagle Boat Ramp, Scotts Ridge Boat Ramp.
- Caddo and Lyndon B. Johnson National Grasslands: Coffee Mill Lake, Black Creek Lake, and East Lake Crockett.
The last fee-free day is Veteran’s Day, November 11.
