Golden Harvest Club Learns About Current Scams

April 19, 2016 - President Joe Anderson called the Golden Harvest Ministries Club meeting to order at 11:30 am on April 18, 2016 with 32 members and guests attending on a rainy, spring day. Harold Hanson welcomed everyone and recognized Sheriff Willis Blackwell. Harold led everyone in "The old Rugged Cross" and "At Calvary"---both favorites of all.

Sheriff Willis BlackwellBro. Carl Smith's birthday was celebrated, and wedding anniversary greetings went to Dot and David Bain; John and Winnie Preston; and Josh (youth director of FBC) and Amy Sanford. Our only guest was guest speaker Sheriff Willis Blackwell.

Get-well cards were signed for Linda Anderson and Mary Ivey.

Jim Forbes introduced his friend Willis Blackwell, his old-time fishing partner and sheriff of Shelby County. Sheriff Blackwell discussed current scams that mainly target senior citizens by promising money and prizes if a certain amount of money is received by a date given. Members were made aware of the wide variety of scams and how to be better protected from such activities. Other current problems in the county were also discussed, and Sheriff Blackwell gave updates on each one.

Prayers were given for those who were ill, in the hospital and nursing homes, as well as other concerns.

The Golden Harvest Ministries Club meets at 11:30 am on the 3rd Monday of each month at the Fellowship Hall of First Baptist Church in Center, Texas, for lunch and a program of interest.
