November 19, 2015 - At their November 16 meeting, members of the Golden Harvest Ministries Club collected toys and made monetary donations for the Shelby County Children's Advocacy Center (SCCAC) which serves Shelby and San Augustine Counties.
Executive Director Denise Merriman, Family Advocate Marcia Jackson, and Shelby County Assistant DA Steven Shires, gave updates on Texas statistics for child abuse, discussed services provided by the Center, made members aware of signs of child abuse, and gave the goal of the Advocacy Center.
Not only does the Center provide services in our area for child victims of abuse, but also offers volunteer opportunities and training for educators, local community members, and others interested in learning how they can make a difference for child victims of abuse.
