It’s Rodeo Time!

September 15, 2016 - Panola College is hosting the first rodeo of the year for the NIRA Southern Region on September 23-24.  The rodeo will be held at the Panola County Cattleman’s Arena on Hwy 79 North.  Performance times are Friday and Saturday nights at  7:00 pm, With the slack each day at noon.  Tickets will be available at the gate at $5 a head.  Kids 10 and under free when accompanied by an adult.

For two days, Carthage, Texas will be home of the largest contestant rodeo ever in Panola County.  Five Hundred of the top cowgirls and cowboys in the country representing the Southern Region will begin this year’s race to the College National Finals Rodeo in Casper, Wyoming.  The Region consist of 14 universities and colleges, including:  Texas A&M University, the University of Texas, Sam Houston State University, McNeese State University, Texas A&M-Kingsville, Panola College, Northeast Texas Community College, Wharton County Jr. College, Trinity Valley Community College, Hill College, Southwest Texas Junior College, Stephen F. Austin State University, Angelina College, and Lone Star College
