Joaquin, Center High Schools Sites for 2020 College Letter Signings

Joaquin High School Rams Gymnasium, Wednesday, February 5, 2020 –

Senior Student Athlete Jesus Bravo signed a college letter of intent to play football for the Northwestern State University Demons at Natchitoches Louisiana. He plans to study and attain a degree while majoring in accounting. Bravo plans to help the Demons team as a place-kicker.

Last season the NSU Demons went 3-9 and were 3-6 in Southland Conference play.

Bravo says he enjoyed friendship and bonds formed at the campus while visiting the there.

He said his favorite memory at Joaquin High School was: “A 37-yard game-winning field goal I kicked against the Carlisle Indians in a playoff game.” (in 2017). He said, “I will miss the bonds I’ve had here at Joaquin.”

Wednesday, Center High School Library –

Center’s Keelan Williams, a senior at Center High School, will be headed to Ouachita Baptist University to study as a Science Major/ Optometrist. She plans to play tennis for the school. OBU is an NCAA Division II University. The OBU Tigers are located in Arkadelphia, Arkansas.

Coach Leon Dykes said, “Keelan has been a 4-year tennis player for the Roughriders, she has been a 3-time regional qualifier for us. She led our team to the State Team Semifinals this season. Keelan has also been a co-MVP. I look forward to seeing her compete at the next level.”

Fellow Center Roughrider Alexis Lopez signed an intent-letter to play as a placekicker/punter at Navarro College of Corsicana Texas. Alex will major in Criminal Justice while playing for the Bulldogs.

Alexis stated, “I really enjoyed the visit at the campus and the time with the coaches went well. This school really interested me,”

Roughrider Zacc Smith plans to attend college at Friends University in Wichita, Kansas and play for the Falcons. Zacc will be looked at to play slot-receiver and he will study to acquire an accountant’s degree. He is currently playing basketball for the ‘Riders and is a 4-sport star at CHS.
