January 11, 2024 - Notice is hereby given of a Regular Meeting of Joaquin City Council to be held on January 16, 2024, in the City Council Chambers of City Hall, 124 N. Preston Street, Joaquin, Texas, beginning at 6pm for the purpose of considering the following agenda items.

The following items are on the agenda for appropriate action:

4. Pledge: United States Pledge, Texas Pledge

5. Open Forum. Open Forum is an opportunity for citizens to speak about items not listed on the agenda. In order to address the City Council, please complete the Open Forum form and submit it to the City Secretary Prior to the start of the meeting. In accordance with the Texas Open Meetings Act, the City Council shall not discuss, deliberate, or make any decisions on items discussed during the Open Forum. Comments are limited to 3 minutes per person.

Election Dates:
The city will have 3 Council Member seats open for the May 4, 2024 General Election. The Notice of Deadline to File Applications for Place on the ballot for the May 4th General Election was posted on December 18, 2023 at City Hall. The first day to file for a place on the ballot will be January 17, 2024 and packets will be available at Joaquin City Hall. The last day to submit applications, in person or by mail, is February 16, 2024, at 5:00 PM.

12. Discuss and take possible action on submitting an Application for a grant from the USDA and authorized signers.

13. Discuss and consider approval to Order a General Election to be held May 4, 2024 for three Council members for the 2024-2026 term.

14. Discuss and consider approving the Notice of General Election to be held May 4, 2024, for three Council members for 2024-2026 term.

15. Discuss and take possible action on office rental contract for Paxton Water Supply Corporation.

16. Discuss and take possible action on changes to the City of Joaquin Personnel Policy.

17. Council Items: Reports by the members of the City Council on matters not on the agenda will be made at this time.

18. Adjourn.

The Council reserves the right to retire into executive session concerning any of the items listed on this agenda whenever it is considered necessary and is legally justified under the Open Meetings Act.
