Joaquin ISD Announces the Achievements of UIL Academic Team

April 3, 2025 - Joaquin ISD is pleased to announce the achievements of its UIL Academic Team at the District 23-AA competition held last Wednesday at the SFASU Student Center. Students from Joaquin High School secured numerous top placements.

Regionals will be held on April 25th at Panola College. We congratulate the following students who have qualified:

Individual Competition:

  • Calculator Applications: Everett Groeling (2nd Place), Hunter Toney (3rd Place)
  • Poetry Interpretation: Lucinda David (1st Place)
  • Science: Hunter Toney (1st Place), Joshua Nelson (2nd Place)
    - Top Biology Scorer: Hunter Toney
    - Top Chemistry Scorer: Peter Lian
    - Top Physics Scorer: Joshua Nelson
  • Science: 1st Place Team, Hunter Toney, Joshua Nelson,Peter Lian,Tristan Groeling, and Elijah Baird(Regional Qualifiers)

The following students also earned top placements as Regional Alternates:

  • Ready Writing: Abigail Burkhalter (4th Place), Summer Hughes (5th Place)
  • Science: Elijah Baird (4th Place), Tristen Groeling (6th Place)
  • Social Studies: Landry Balkcom (5th Place), Elijah Baird (5th Place)
