June 23, 2016 - The Joaquin ISD School Board met tonight in regular session at 6:00 p.m. in the Joaquin Boardroom with the following members present: Chrisco Bragg, Ronnie Belrose, Tam Hearnsberger, Thomas Harvey, Bill Mason, Jr., and Jeff Cater

Chrisco Bragg, President, called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.
2 The invocation was led by Chrisco Bragg, and the Pledge of Allegiance to the United States of America by Bill Mason, Jr., and the Pledge of Allegiance to the Texas Flag was led by Tam Hearnsberger.

5 Agenda Items for discussion, consideration, and possible action:
5.1 It was moved by Tam Hearnsberger, and seconded by Bill Mason, Jr., to approve the minutes from previous meeting. Following discussion, a vote was taken on the motion. It carried unanimously.
5.2 It was moved by Thomas Harvey to approve reimbursement policy for dual credit classes of students who qualify. The motion was discussed and failed for lack of a second.
5.3 It was moved by Tam Hearnsberger, and seconded by Ronnie Belrose, to approve TASB Local Policy FFA on Student Welfare Wellness and Health Services. Following discussion, a vote was taken on the motion. It carried unanimously.
5.4 It was moved by Bill Mason, Jr., and seconded by Ronnie Belrose, to set the proposed tax rates for publication of the First Notice of Public meeting to discuss Proposed Tax Rate to be held on July 18, 2016 at 5:30 P.M. to be as follows:
M&O Tax Rate $1.17
I&S Tax Rate $0.5882
Total Tax Rate $1.7582, and set the proposed rates for publication on the Second Notice of Public meeting to discuss Proposed Tax to be held on July 18, 2016 at 5:30 P.M. to be as follows:
M&O Tax Rate $1.17
I&S Tax Rate $0.4582
Total Tax Rate $1.6282
Following discussion, a vote was taken on the motion. The vote was 5 for and 1 abstention (Thomas Harvey). Motion carried.
6 The board entered closed session in accordance with the Texas Open Meetings Act, Texas Government Code Section §551.072 and §551.074 at 7:29 p.m. on June 21, 2016.

7 The board entered open session in accordance with the Texas Open Meetings Act at 8:12 p.m. on June 21, 2016. Agenda Items for discussion, consideration, and possible action:
7.1.a No action required or necessary
7.1.b It was moved by Jeff Cater, and seconded by Tam Hearnsberger, to approve the recommendation of the Superintendent to hire Rachel Bagley, Tracy Bryant, Tonya Oliver, and Taylor Barlow on one year (187 day) probationary teacher contracts subject to assignments. Following discussion, a vote was taken on the motion. It carried unanimously.

8 Chrisco Bragg, Board President, asked for items to be placed on the next board agenda.
