Jordan Receives Abner V. McCall Service Award

November 2, 2021 - Bro. Vance Jordan was presented the Abner V. McCall Service Award Monday evening by the Waco Scottish Rite Body in recognition of his selfless work in Masonry, Scottish Rite Masonry, his church and his community.

Bro. Jordan began his Masonic career in 1994 when he was raised in Joaquin Lodge No. 856, where he is an endowed member and has received the prestigious "Golden Trowel Award" from his home lodge in 2016. Vance presided as Worshipful Master four times and three of those were consecutive years. Bro. Jordan has served the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Texas as a District Instructor for three years and as DDGM in 2010. He is also a plural member of Tenaha Lodge No. 737 and joined the Waco Scottish Rite in 2016.

Vance and his wife Cathy reside in Joaquin where he is retired from the oilfield. He is a member of Jackson Missionary Baptist Church where he serves on the financial,benevolence and pulpit search committees.

For the past seven years Vance has faithfully been a group of Masons that has picked up groceries every Monday morning from Walmart and delivered them to Community Christian Services food pantry in Joaquin.

The Abner V. McCall Service award is named after Bro. McCall, an honor graduate of the Masonic Home and School, where he was awarded a full scholarship to Baylor University. He went on to serve in the FBI during WW II, graduated from Baylor law school and taught there. He was appointed a Texas Supreme Court Justice, and after serving in several capacities at Baylor, he became president in 1961. His humanitarian service continues to be honored by awarding recipients of this award annually.
