Keep the Legacy Alive: Remembering Professor Sampson

May 31, 2018 - Keep the Legacy Alive for Daniels School as we remember the last principal, Mr. Clifford Perry Sampson who was known as Professor Sampson.

Like his counterpart, Mr. Daniels, who was mentioned in a previous article, he believed that almost all children have equal capacity to learn. It is noted that he was an honor student the entire time of his pursuit of degrees in spite of working many jobs to pay his tuition.

After a term in the military he worked at Daniels as a teacher-coach and soon became principal in 1950 upon the death of Professor Daniels. A multi-tasker was he with responsibilities as teacher, coach, principal, bus driver, physical education and journalism teacher, and Federal Coordinator.

Mr. Sampson is a very unforgettable person. More detail of this great man ad his family’s accomplishments can be found in Dr Charles Tatum’s book, "Dew Drops on the Pine needles - Volume I" found in many libraries. By the way, the foreword of this book is penned by the valedictorian of the 1966 graduate class of Daniels High School, Dr. Kenneth E. Hinson. Dr. Hinson is also a Prairie View University graduate and presently retired Navy officer and a retired Virginia School Administrator. He and his family recently moved to Texas from Virginia.

Daniels Alumni Keep the Legacy Alive by giving honor and praise to the graduates and students of C.H. Daniels High School of Center, Texas.
