Kissin’ Kuzzins by Dickie Dixon

Take those photos while you can

October 25, 2018 - Recently, when I returned to some places which had been important in my life, I discovered the buildings were no longer there: they had been torn down. They are: (1) the first house I rented in 1972 from June Bone on FM 58 (2) the Holiday Inn restaurant where I took Greek and met my late wife (3) the old YWCA building on Haskell Street in Dallas which served as the dorm (Lincoln Hall) for Dallas Theological Seminary during my first year when I was single (4) Lynn Hotel where I worked as a desk clerk/relief night auditor beginning in the summer of 1975 after I first got married (5) the quadplex (my term) of four apartments on Apple Street, where we moved to from 5304 Willis Street in 1976. After my oldest daughter was born on July 7, 1978, this is the apartment to which we took her home from Presbyterian Hospital.

The moral of this story: Don’t take it for granted that those structures will always be there. Take those photos while you can.
