Lady Bears Eliminated in Area Softball Playoffs

The Timpson Lady Bears have been eliminated in the Texas UIL Softball Tournament after two losses to the West Sabine Lady Tigers.

On Friday Timpson lost 6-3 to WSHS in Game 1 at West Sabine High School. On Saturday, Timpson fell 7-3 ending the best-of- three game series and sending the Lady Tigers through to the regional quarterfinal round of the tournament.

Game 2 saw the Lady Bears trail 1-0 after Faith Hardy scored in the top of the second inning. West Sabine later added 5 more unanswered runs in a rally during the top of the fourth frame to boost their advantage to 6-0.

THS got on the scoreboard when McKenley Wynn doubled to leftfield in the bottom of the fifth inning and later scored on a throwing error. The Lady Bears added runs by Shy Bussey and Amiyah Soto during the bottom of the seventh inning contest but the Lady Tigers made the plays needed to end the game with THS trailing 7-3.

The Lady Bears season is concluded with them holding a 19-9 mark. They are Area finalist and they were the last remaining girls varsity softball playoff team from Shelby County.

Alexis Grigsby and Bethany Bridges teamed up to pitch Saturday’s game. They struck out three batters and walked six.

Cora Sepulvado pitched for the Lady Tigers and struck out nine batters and walked two.
