Lady Bears Fall to Lady Indians in Area Round Softball Playoff

Hudson High School on Monday, May 5, 2025 –

The Timpson Lady Bears fell to the Douglass Lady Indians by a 7-5 run score on Monday in an Area round elimination playoff game during the Texas UIL State Softball Playoff Tournament.

The game was originally schedule for Saturday but was rescheduled for Monday and started out on Monday with a lightning delay. The game was lengthy and went from 7 p.m. until after 11:30 p.m. in damp conditions.

Douglass gained a 3-0 run lead in the top of the first inning but Timpson tied the game at 3-3 in the bottom of the first with scores from Madi Grigsby, Ceale Kruse and Ashlyn Foster.

The Lady Indians extended their lead to 5-3 in the top of the third frame when Gracie Hise and Olivia Smith scored runs. Timpson answered in the bottom of the third inning when courtesy runner Aylee Crow scored by stealing home to cut Douglass’ lead to 5-4 runs.

Timpson tied the game at 5-5 when Taylor Stewart tripled to rightfield scoring Crow for Timpson’s final run. Douglass was able to score the final 2 runs in the top of the seventh inning. This gave DHS a 7-5 run advantage and proved to be the difference in the contest.

The Lady Bears season ends with them having a 20-6 season mark and them being Region III Area finalist.

Douglass is at 15-10 and they will move on to the Region III Semifinals to face Beckville next week.
