Lady Bears Outlast Lady Dragons in Region III Quarterfinals 55-45

The Timpson Lady Bears varsity basketball team used a 17-6 points scoring advantage, during the fourth quarter, to pull away from Shelbyville’s Lady Dragons and take a 55-45 win. The game was the UIL Region III Quarterfinal. Timpson came into the contest as the District 22 2A second seed and Shelbyville came in as District 22 third seed.

 The game was close early with Timpson leading by just a single point, with a  13-12 lead, at the end of the first quarter.

 Halftime saw the two teams tied at 23 points apiece. Shelbyville gained a one-point advantage at the end of the third stanza and the game went to the fourth period with the Lady Dragons holding a narrow 39-38 lead.

Leading scorer for Timpson was Harlie Ware with 23 points. Other Lady Bears in double figures were Brylee Behrens and Laiton Braddock with 10 points apiece.

Kiana Bennett led the Lady Dragons with 27 points.

The Lady Bears will next play District 20 2A representative Grapeland on Friday, February 28 at a site to be announced later.
