The Shelbyville Lady Dragons varsity softball team fell on the road to the Beckville Lady Bearcats by a 9-3 run score on Tuesday. The win gave Beckville High School the District 22 2A title and the number one seed for the post season varsity softball playoffs. Beckville finished the regular season with a 10-2 conference mark. Shelbyville and Timpson hold an identical 9-3 district mark and will have to hold a tie-breaker at a future date to decide the number two and three seeds. Tuesday saw Shelbyville take a 3-0 run lead in the top of the first inning when Carsey Lovell, Lanie Bass, and Cadee Harley loaded the bases with one out and scored on a walk by Kylie Snell, a Beckville error, and a sacrifice fly by Cori Lawson.

Beckville answered with a rally in the bottom of the third inning with a rally that brought ten batters to the plate and saw BHS go up 5-3 runs by getting scores from Kaitlyn Mauritzen, Lexi Barr, Emily Grandgeorge, Bethany Grandgeorge, Gracey Struwe. Disaster struck again for the Lady Dragons when the Lady Bearcats rallied again in the bottom of the fourth, bringing 12 batters to the plate and going up 9-3 before Shelbyville could stop the damage.
