Shelbyville Dragons Gymnasium on Tuesday, January 28, 2025 –
The Shelbyville Lady Dragons varsity basketball team won a District 24 2A conference game over the visiting Woden Lady Eagles on Tuesday by a 44-38 score. The game was close throughout with the game tied at 15-15 points at the end of the first quarter and SHS held a narrow 24-23 lead at the midway intermission.
The Lady Dragons lost their narrow lead and they trailed the Lady Eagles 32-33 at the conclusion of the third period. SHS outscored Woden 9-2 points early in the final period and the Lady Dragons led 39-35 midway through the fourth frame. Shelbyville held on through the final minutes to take the 44-38 win. Senior Dragons guard Cori Lawson led Shelbyville scoring with 18 points.
The win puts the Lady Dragons in fifth place in District 24 2A play. They are at 17-10 overall and 6-5 in District 24 with two games remaining. Woden is at 16-7 this season and 7-3 in the conference.
Shelbyville will head to West Sabine on Friday, January 31, 2025 for a district game at 6:30 p.m. at Tigers Gymnasium. WSHS is 15-8, 7-3.
