The Joaquin Lady Rams varsity softball team has extended their District 22 2A record to 4-2 after defeating the Wells Pirates by a 15-0 score. The game was shortened to four innings due to the league’s mercy rule. Joaquin is on a 3-game winning streak and they have not allowed a run for three contests.

Joaquin got on the board early with runs batted in which led to scores from JJ Bass, Chloe Mason, Molly Mason, Kennedy Stanley helping the Lady Rams take a 5-0 lead into the second inning.

Chloe Mason struck out 3 of the 4 Lady Pirate batters she faced in the top of the second inning. Joaquin extended their lead to 10-0 by the end of the second frame.

Mason struck out the only three Wells batters that came to the plate in the top of the third inning. Hits by Lady Rams Molly Mason, Chrislyn Pena, Kalie Brooks, and Maddisyn Cheatwood, helped extend the JHS lead to 14-0 by the end of the third inning.

The Lady Ram’s defense set down Wells in 1-2-3 fashion with Chloe Mason getting two more of her 11 strike outs for the day.

Lady Ram Emma Martin drew a bases-loaded walk which scored the 15th run which ended the contest by the league’s mercy-rule being enforced.

Joaquin will next face the Gary Lady Bobcats next Tuesday, March 26, 2019, at Gary High School. The first pitch is slated for 5 p.m.
