Lady Tigers Take 53-17 Win in Area Basketball Playoff over Lady Wildcats

The Tenaha Lady Tigers improved their season record to 31-6 with a convincing 53-17 Area playoff basketball win over the Harleton Wildcats on Friday. The Lady Tigers came into the game as the first seed of District 23 2A and Harleton came in with a 18-11 mark and they were the third seed of District 21 2A.

The Lady Tigers jumped out to a 7-0 point lead early and they led 10-2 midway through the first period. They led 19-3 at the end of the opening period. The second quarter saw THS leading 23-3 at the midpoint and they led 34-7 at the halftime intermission.

The third stanza saw the Lady Tigers leading 44-8 at the 4 minute mark. By the end of the third quarter Tenaha led 49-13. Each team scored 4 points in the final period as THS took the 53-17 win.

Tenaha was led by freshman Angel Alexander with 22 points and junior Ariana Dagley had 11. Harleton was led by junior Makenzie Hearron with 8 points.

The Tigers will face Martins Mill High School next week in the Region III Semifinal round of the Texas UIL Basketball Playoffs. Martins Mill beat Riesel 83-23 on Friday.
