Lady Tigers Win District 23 Finale over Lady Bears 77-39

The Tenaha Lady Tigers won their District 23 2A finale, at home on Tuesday, over the Timpson Lady Bears by a 77-39 score. The win put the Tenaha season mark at 30-2 overall and they went a perfect 12-0 in district play. They have won the District 23 crown and will await a place and time for their bi-district playoffs in one week.

The Lady Bears went 10-2 in District 23 and will enter the playoffs next week as the district’s second seed. Their overall record is at 26-9.

The Lady Tigers trailed 4-2 points at the midway point of the first period but led 11-9 at the end of the first quarter. They outpaced the Lady Bears 17-9 points during the second frame and Tenaha led 28-18 at the halftime intermission. By the end of the third stanza the game was getting out of reach with Tenaha leading 49-28 on their way to taking the 77-39 victory.

Tenaha was led by Kayanna Cox with 37 points. Teammate I’Tiyanna Dagley scored 14 and Kaedynce Cox sored 10 points. Timpson was led by McKenna Wynn with 9 points.

Before the game Seniors Makalie Black and Makaelen Reynolds were recognized by the home crowd and team on Tenaha ISD Senior Night.
