LaGrones Hold Reunion and Discuss Springtime Reunion

January 19, 2016 - A reunion of LaGrone cousins was held Wednesday morning, Dec. 30, at the Deadwood Methodist Community Center.

Twenty LaGrones were present and talked family history, looked at pictures, and walked the cemetery.

Those present are all descendants of Andrew Jackson LaGrone (1820-1885) and Lucinda Gibbs LaGrone (1827-1892), who were issued the first marriage license in Panola County. Jack was the son of Adam and Christina LaGrone, founders of Deadwood, the first Anglo settlement in Panola County east of the Sabine River. Jack served in the Texas Revolution and in the Confederate Calvary.

Jack and Lucinda had 13 children, Hiram Clark (1847-1928); William S. (1849); Walter Jackson (1851-1884); Arminta "Minta" (1853-1870); Lucinda Clementine "Clemmie" (1855-1933); Grayson Killis (1857 - 1872); Daniel Fayett (1859-1892); Thomas Huel (1860-1919); Ambrus (1862-1865); Jefferson Bragg - (1864-1932); Itty (1865-1872); Charles Horace (1867-1939); and Mary Ella (1870-1920).

Those in attendance were Garth LaGrone, JoNell LaGrone-widow of Jimmy LaGrone, Mack LaGrone, Viginia “Jenny” Wood, Butch Marsalis, Merry LaGrone Bagley, Sue Ann McMillian Ware, Kathy Waggoner LaGrone, Tommy LaGrone, Kelly LaGrone, Mike LaGrone, Gavin LaGrone, Jimmy Nell LaGrone Oliver, Jimmy Ray Oliver, Brenda LaGrone McLane and her grandchildren Alyssa Fensom, Brenton Fensom, and Courtlyn Fensom, Brandi McLane Kelley, and Rodger Glen McLane.
