Letter to the Editor: “Gone Too Soon”

June 1, 2023 - Justice was not served for my son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, friend.

The Shelby County District Attorney chose not to prosecute the individual responsible for Kelton’s untimely murder. Well it seems to be true, black on black crime is okay! “Just another black out of the way”. I said what I said!

Eight years probation for taking someone’s life?!!

When the victim’s family is not informed or kept updated on the case is a disgrace and Justice is not truly served, not for the family and especially the victim Kelton Jones. Why does the District Attorney’s office have such a lack of respect and disregard for the victim’s family?

However in small towns like Center Texas, this seems to be the norm and not the exception.

During preliminary hearings and throughout the whole process, the accused family, and friends were kept in the loop and in the know of what was going on with the case. Kelton’s family is still waiting on answers and resolution for the killing of our beloved son, brother, nephew, grandson, friend.

This is not Justice or even closure for Kelton Jones.

We have not forgotten and will never forget!

Rest in Heavenly Peace Kelton!!
