Livestock Producers May Be Eligible for 2015 Drought Disaster Assistance

Nacogdoches - Angelina - Trinity - San Augustine - Shelby County

October 19, 2015 - The County Executive Director for the Farm Service Agency (FSA) at the Nacogdoches USDA Service Center, Lance Jacobs, announced that ranchers and livestock producers may be eligible for assistance from the Livestock Forage Disaster Program (LFP) for grazing losses incurred in 2015 due to drought.

“We encourage producers to contact our office for an appointment, and to learn what records are required to apply for assistance,” said Jacobs. The deadline to apply for the 2015 Livestock Forage Program will be January 30, 2016, but producers should contact our office now to get on our register. “If a producer has livestock in any county other than Angelina, Nacogdoches, Trinity, San Augustine or Shelby, then they must contact the other county to get on their register as well” said Jacobs.

As a reminder, the final date to report 2016 native and improved grasses intended for grazing or haying for all programs is November 15, 2015.
