Lufkin District to Host Grant Information Meeting

August 17, 2018 Lufkin – The Texas Department of Transportation is hosting a traffic safety grant interest meeting for agencies that could benefit from additional funding.

The meeting is scheduled from 10am to 12 noon, September 11, at the Lufkin District office, 1805 N. Timberland Dr. in Lufkin. TxDOT will inform those in attendance of how the federal grant program is administered and how funds can be requested. Funding is available for those entities wanting to take part in reducing the number of motor vehicle crashes, injuries and fatalities in Texas. The requests for grants will be welcomed from law enforcement, educational institutions and non-profit organizations.

“This is a great opportunity for local law enforcement agencies, schools or any non-profit organizations in our nine-county district to get the information about funding that is available to them,” said Rhonda Oaks, public information officer for the Lufkin District. “We encourage these agencies and organizations to send representatives. This meeting can get them a step closer to receiving federal grants for additional funding.”

The traffic safety grant interest meeting will provide information regarding upcoming grant proposals for fiscal year 2020. Participants will be able to ask questions with representatives from TxDOT and the Texas Municipal Police Association on hand to provide information regarding who can apply and the benefits of the additional funding.
