April 15, 2021 - Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in partnership with the Shelby County Chamber of Commerce Health & Fitness Committee will be having monthly lunch and learn to provide information on various topics. This month we will focus on movement and benefits of therapy.

On Wednesday, April 21, 2021 from Noon to 1pm, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension in partnership with the Shelby County Chamber of Commerce Health & Fitness Committee and Pine Grove Nursing Home will host a lunch and learn on occupational therapy. April Knight, Occupational Therapist will be our guest speaker. April Knight currently is employed by Rehab Pro as on Occupational Therapist. She has been working as an OT at Pinegrove Nursing Center full time for 5 years. Prior to working as the full time OT, she worked PRN in the facility. She has been an OT for 17 years. She received her Bachelors in Science degree at UTMB in Galveston, Texas. April has worked in a variety of settings including acute care, outpatient therapy, home health services and the school setting. April and her husband Alan Knight, a physical therapist, are the owners of Cornerstone Therapy and Balance Center in Center, Texas. Together they have five children and one grandchild.

As a holistic, evidence-based profession, occupational therapy’s approach to rehabilitation goes beyond addressing upper extremity injuries in isolation to include the whole person and his or her functional needs and roles in all the appropriate environments. Occupational therapy practitioners also work closely with surgeons or treating physicians to ensure the most favorable therapeutic outcomes.

Be sure to RSVP to 936 598-7744 no later than Tuesday April 20, 2021 if you would like to attend. Lunch will be provided; space is limited and all COVID19 precautions will be taken.
