October 29, 2015 - A scholarship has been established through the Joaquin Alumni Association in memory of Adam Matthews, Alan Shaw, and Brad Wiggins.
It is being funded by donations collected for the Joaquin Railroad Crossing Light fund which was originally established to pay for the installation of warning lights at the railroad crossing in Joaquin after their accident in 2002. The railroad company installed lights and crossing gates at their expense, so the donations collected were not needed for that purpose.
All money collected has been donated to the Joaquin Alumni Association to establish the Matthews-Shaw-Wiggins Scholarship. Anyone wishing to make additional contributions to this scholarship may do so by sending their donation to the Joaquin Alumni Association, P. O. Box 141, Joaquin, TX 75954.
