Molly Spears Smith to be Inducted into the Center ISD Hall of Honor

October 2, 2015 - After graduating from Center High School in 1965, Molly attended Sam Houston State University but completed her Bachelor Degree, Magna cum laude, and Master Degree at Old Dominion University, Norfolk, VA. She taught high school business classes in Virginia Beach and Woodbridge,VA.

After teaching for 11 years, Molly pursed a civil service career and served as the Chief, Testing Branch, US Military Entrance Processing Command, San Francisco, CA, and as a program analyst with the US Marine Corps Operational Test & Evaluation Activity, Quantico, VA. In addition, she served as an inspector and auditor with the Department of Justice, Office of the Inspector General, Washington, DC, and the Dallas Regional Audit Office, Dallas, TX.

Molly transitioned from the Department of Justice to the Department of the Navy and served as the Deputy Inspector General, Commander, Navy Installations Command, Washington, DC, and as the Inspector General for Commander, Navy Region Marianas, Guam. She also served as the Inspector General for Commander, US Naval Forces Central Command/Commander US FIFTH Fleet, Bahrain.

Molly is a Certified Government Financial Manager and Certified Inspector General. Her awards include: numerous performance and process improvement awards; Department of Justice, Special Achievement Award; Navy Meritorious Service Award; Superior Civilian Service Award; and Secretary of Defense Medal for Global War on Terrorism.

The late Rear Admiral Wayne Smith, USN, a 1963 Tenaha graduate, and Molly were married for over 38 years. Molly resides in Elkhorn, NE, near Colby/Keleigh, her son/daughter-in-law, and Avery, Austin, and Aubrie, her grandchildren.

Smith, a member of the Class of 1965, will be inducted into the Center High Hall of Fame during Homecoming festivities on October 10.
