January 20, 2016 - Nacogdoches, Texas, January 19, 2016 – Nacogdoches Medical Center is proud to announce Jeff Patterson as its new Chief Executive Officer. Patterson, who started in December 2015, will oversee the strategic, operational and clinical activities for the medical network, which is comprised of the 153-bed hospital and 10 outpatient centers.

“I am excited to be back home in Texas and to join Nacogdoches Medical Center, an organization driven by engaged employees and loyal, high quality physicians. NMC has always had a patient-centered culture with a history of providing compassionate, community-focused care in East Texas,” Patterson shared.

Patterson replaces Gary Stokes, who retired in December after ten years as CEO. Stokes said he had full confidence in handing off responsibilities to Patterson, “He is the right choice for our hospital and community. Jeff has been with Tenet Healthcare, our parent company, for over ten years and has a proven track record that speaks volumes about his leadership skills, as well as ability to develop health systems and physician relationships.”

Patterson previously served as Chief Operating Officer at Desert Regional Medical Center, a Tenet-hospital in Palm Springs, California, since 2013. Before joining Desert Regional, Patterson served as Senior Director of Business Development for Tenet’s Southern States Region, which comprises 14 acute care hospitals with more than 3,500 beds as well as COO and Associate Administrator for Business Development at Lake Pointe Health Network in Rowlett, Texas.

Chief of Staff, Dr. David Vineyard said, “The medical staff of this hospital are committed to providing the highest quality of health care services to our patients in the most efficient manner possible, and I believe that Jeff's philosophy of leadership for the administration of Medical Center will help us to accomplish that, as a team, as we work together to serve the needs of our community.”

“Jeff’s extensive background in hospital operations and business development uniquely qualifies him for the job at hand. He is ready to lead NMC as we fulfill our mission to improve patient’s health and positively impact their care experience. At the same time, he understands how important it is to reduce healthcare costs across East Texas. Jeff has been nationally recognized for his consistent ability to cultivate high quality patient care, while achieving sound financial performance at large, complex health systems and I am confident he will do the same here. ” said Ed Pool, Governing Board Chairman.

Since joining Tenet in 2005, Patterson has received numerous awards and recognition for his work in healthcare administration, including being named one of Modern Healthcare’s “Up and Comers” in 2014 and one of 25 National Rising Stars of the Health Care Industry by Becker’s Hospital Review in July 2015.
