Nacogdoches Medical Center Names New Chief Operating Officer

April 20, 2016 - Nacogdoches, Texas– Nacogdoches Medical Center is pleased to announce that Philip Koovakada, MSN, MSHCA, has been named Chief Operating Officer of the health network. He assumed the role on April 11th, 2016. 

As Chief Operating Officer, Koovakada will be responsible for the daily operations and oversight of NMC’s ancillary departments. He will also play an integral role in improving clinical outcomes, patient, physician and employee satisfaction, and the financial success of the organization.

“Philip's experience and leadership skills will be a great addition to our health network's team and culture,” said Jeff Patterson, Chief Executive Officer. “He brings a wide breadth of knowledge that will be integral as we expand our network of services and keep our community close to home for their care.”

Since 2014, Koovakada has led seven operational departments as Director of Cardiovascular Services at Desert Regional Medical Center, a 385 bed, level II trauma center located in Palm Springs, California. His oversight earned the hospital consistent recognition for exceeding national guidelines and excellence in care. Rooted in quality, safety, and efficiency of care, his leadership focused on improving outcomes and expanding both acute and outpatient healthcare services available. 

A member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, Koovakada earned both a Master of Science in Nursing and a Master of Science in Health Care Administration from California State University. He received his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of St. Francis in Joliet, Illinois.
