New Loop Exit Ramp Opening in Nacogdoches

Old circle ramp to be permanently closed

April 2, 2016 LUFKIN - Construction near US 59/SL 224 in Nacogdoches County will reach another milestone in the coming week as a new exit ramp is scheduled to be opened and another permanently closed.

Motorists wanting to exit SL 224 to US 59 will be able to access the newly constructed westbound ramp, constructed near the site of the old circle entry/exit ramp. The existing circle ramp will be permanently closed. Motorists wanting to travel eastbound on SL 224 will still be able to access the loop from the existing ramp located just south of the loop.

Webber LLC, contractors for the project, will also activate new signals with the ramp opening. As new signals are activated, temporary disruptions to traffic could occur. Local law enforcement will assist in directing traffic during the traffic pattern change.

Motorists should be prepared for delays and be alert to all signage indicating the change in traffic patterns. Reduce speed and remember that traffic fines double while workers are present.

TxDOT is dedicated to improving mobility, connectivity and safety. The US 59/SL 224 construction project is scheduled for completion in early 2017, weather permitting.
