New Worship Series and Bible Study at Shelbyville UMC and Short UMC

November 24, 2015 - Shelbyville, Short United Methodist Churches

The Christmas season is a busy time. We can get so involved and busy with the "big event" on Christmas Day that we do not take the time to fully prepare our hearts to the coming and return of Jesus Christ.

Join us this season to engage our hearts to fully experience Christmas and celebrate Jesus coming into the world and his return.

"THE WAY: Preparing our Hearts and Lives for Jesus Christ"
Nov 29: "Are You Ready" (Jeremiah 33:14-16; Luke 21:25-36)
Dec 6: "Open Heart for God's Word" (Malachi 3:1-4; Luke 3:1-6)
Dec 13: Choir Christmas Cantata
Dec 20: "Salvation" (MIcah 5:2-5; Luke 1:47-55)

Christmas Eve Candlelight Service at Shelbyville UMC
December 24th at 6:00pm: "Light In The Night" (Isaiah 9:2-7; Luke 2:1-20)

Bible Study:

Not a Silent Night: Imagine Jesus from Mary’s point of view—proud of her son, in awe of his gifts and mission, guided by love for him as a person and so much more. In this book, Adam Hamilton begins at the end, with Mary at the crucifixion and resurrection; travels back in time as she witnesses his life and ministry; and ends at the beginning, with the Christ child born in a stable, Mary’s beautiful baby. This year, experience Advent and Christmas with Mary.

The four sessions are:
1. Beginning with the End
2. The Piercing of Mary’s Soul
3. Amazed, Astounded, and Astonished
4. Mary, Full of Grace
5. It Was Not a Silent Night (devotional for Christmas)

Held at Shelbyville UMC beginning November 29
Sunday evenings 5:00pm in the parsonage
Tuesday mornings 10:00am in the Fellowship Hall
