NMC Receives Total Hip and Knee Replacement Certification

November 7, 2016 – NMC Health Network today announced it has earned a Gold Seal of Approval® for its Hip and Knee Joint Replacement Program by demonstrating compliance with The Joint Commission’s national standards for health care quality and safety. The certification recognizes the organization’s continuous dedication to elevate the quality, consistency and safety of their services and patient care.

During an intensive on-site survey in August, a Joint Commission expert evaluated NMC for compliance with standards of care specific to the needs of patients undergoing knee and hip replacement, including infection prevention and control, leadership and medication management. Employees and doctors were interviewed, facilities were inspected, and patient charts received thorough evaluation and scrutiny.

"Joint Commission certification validates the significant investment in quality our team is making on a day-to-day basis,” said Kenneth Jurist, M.D., co-medical director of the joint replacement program. “The accreditation provides us a framework to take our program to the next level and supports a culture of excellence that is optimal for patient outcomes.

"At NMC, we are devoted to providing the highest level of care for our patients undergoing hip and knee replacements" said Joint Program Coordinator, Jessica Malone, RN. “Certification is a voluntary process and I commend our team for successfully undertaking this challenge to elevate our standard of care.”

The joint replacement program at NMC is comprised of many components that ensure quality care, close to home. The program has Board Certified surgeons, an award winning nursing team, Doctorate prepared physical therapists, advanced equipment and facilities, and a dedicated joint program coordinator.

Steven Overturf, M.D., co-medical director, added, “Our community members can be assured that qualityorthopedic services, with outcomes that rival big city facilities, are available close to home, providing a level of convenience and personal concern that is unparalleled. Endorsements from agencies such as The Joint Commission validate the work that is being done and our commitment to restore patients to their individual optimum level of functioning.

”We have a phenomenal team behind NMC’s joint replacement program. I’m extremely proud of their efforts and ability to achieve this distinguished accreditation,” says Jeff Patterson, CEO of NMC Health Network. “Patients are choosing to come to NMC for joint replacement services because of the level of care that they receive and the great outcomes that are proof of the team’s abilities.”
