NWS Issues Significant Weather Advisory

September 30, 2018 - Significant weather advisory for eastern Nacogdoches, Shelby, Southeastern Angelina and San Augustine counties until 5:30pm CDT.

At 435pm CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near Rockland, moving north at 15 mph.

Winds in excess of 30 mph will be possible with this storm.

Locations impacted include: Center, San Augustine, Timpson, Melrose, Patroon, Martinsville, Bland Lake, Neuville, Macune, Etoile, Shelbyville, Zavalla, Chireno, Huxley, Broaddus, Jericho, Stockman, Chinaquapin, Hurstown and Denning.

Precautionary/Preparedness Actions
Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm, and may lead to localized flooding as the storm moves across areas that have seen widespread one to over two inches of rain already this afternoon. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

Persons in campgrounds should consider seeking higher ground and avoid drainage areas and fast running streams until well after this this storm passes.
