Panola College “Twirl through the Decades” Camp to be Held

June 15, 2016 - Panola College Continuing Education will be hosting a four day twirling camp July 19-22. The camp is open to students K-12th grades and will last from 8:30-12:30 each day. The campers should meet in the new Charles C. Matthews Student Center and check in will begin at 8:00 each day. The week will conclude with a showcase performance at 12:00 on Friday, July 22. The performance will be held in the A.J. Johnson Gymnasium. Participants will twirl to music from the 1930s to the present, with classes available for beginner, intermediate and advanced twirlers.

“Former and current SFA Twirl-O-Jacks will be creating the choreography and teaching routines,” coordinator Kimberly Ferguson said. “We’re really excited about the wide range of music to choose from, and I’m having a lot of fun creating and incorporating props into our routines. It should be entertaining for the girls to learn and for the crowd to watch!”

Twirlers are encouraged to send photos of themselves along with fun facts with their registration form or by email for a chance to be featured as the #PCTSpotlight each week on social media. All students are required to bring their own batons, but props will be provided, along with a performance t-shirt for those who register before July 5. Early registration costs $50, while registrants after the 5th will pay $75. Absolutely no registration forms will be accepted after July 15th. To register, contact Kimberly Ferguson at kferguson@panola.edu, or at 903-693-2094.
