March 8, 2016 - Panola College traveled to UT-Tyler on Monday where the stage was set for Ponies largest come from behind victory this season.
In the bottom of the second inning things would get interesting when Panola had to send 3 pitchers to the mound to get out of self inflicted melt down on the pitching mound. Lance Ledoux, and Josh Heard would combine to give up 10 runs, 6 walks, and 8 unearned runs. Jeffrey Holt would have to come in and record the last out after hitting the first guy he faced.
After spotting UT-Tyler with 10 runs Panola wouldn't respond until the top of the 5th inning when Todd Streck and Colby Price both doubled sparking the Panola offense for a 6 run inning.
Panolas pitching would manage another meltdown as Rusty Clower would give up 4 runs in the bottom of the 5th inning by hitting 2 batters and walking one more. Adding to the tally of 11 unearned runs through 5 innings.
However it didn't take the boys in green much time to respond this time as Panola would score 2 runs in the top of the 6th inning, and 1 run in the top of the 7th inning setting the stage for Ponies as they entered the top of the 9th inning down 5 runs. Panola then mounted a 9 runs in the inning taking the lead for good 18-14.
Panola would have 5 hitters collect multiple hits for the Ponies, Price-4, Sojka-3, Morris-3, Morales-3, Bailey-2.
With the win Coach Todd Shelton would collect his 500th career win as a head coach. And Panola now sits at 15-6 on the season.
