Panola College Sweeps Paris Junior College Three Games to None

May 3, 2016 - Panola’s pitching and offense were outstanding on the weekend.  Panola’s offense scored 29 runs in three games while Panola’s pitching allowed only 5 runs to cross the plate in the series.  Panola is now 38-13 on the season and 18-9 in conference play.  

Panola will wrap up conference play this weekend vs #18 Navarro College.  Game one is scheduled for 3pm in Carthage, Game two and three are scheduled for Saturday in Corsicana for a double header starting at 2pm.     

Game #1
A five-run explosion in the fourth inning carried Panola to an 8-0 win in seven innings over Paris in Carthage, TX on Thursday.

Hector Morales (Royal Palm Beach, FL) racked up five RBIs on four hits for Panola. He singled in the third inning, tripled in the fourth inning, and doubled in the second and sixth innings.

Cayne Ueckert (Jasper, TX) three strikeouts helped Panola to the victory. Panola's pitcher tossed five innings of shutout ball and allowed only four hits.

The game's last lead went to Panola College Spring 2016 thanks to a second inning rally that saw one run cross the plate on an RBI single by Pierce Hollister (Dickinson, TX).
 
Game #2
Panola beat Paris 10-0 in five innings in game two on Sunday in Paris Texas after a seven-run explosion in the second inning.

Panola scored in the second on an RBI single by Chad McKinney (Hughes Springs, TX), a two-run double by Jansen McCurdy (White Oak, TX), a two-run single by Austin Sojka (Huntington Beach, CA), an RBI single by Logan Bailey (Hallsville, TX), and a passed ball.

Sojka racked up four RBIs on two hits for Panola.

Paris' lineup had no answer for Bailey. Paris managed just one hit off of Bailey, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out eight during his five innings of work.

Panola built upon its lead with three runs in the third. An error scored Chandler Morris (The Woodlands, TX) for the inning's first run. That was followed up by Sojka's triple, bringing home McKinney and McCurdy.
 
Game #3
A awesome effort by Colby Price (Nederland, TX) spurred Panola to an 11-5 win over Paris in game three on Sunday in Paris, TX.

Price blasted two home runs for Panola. Price went 3-5 in the game with two RBIs and four runs scored. Price homered in the first and third innings.

The offense exploded for the Panola in the fourth. In the inning Panola scored seven runs. Panola scored in the fourth on an error, an RBI single by Jansen McCurdy (White Oak, TX), an RBI single by Hector Morales (Royal Palm Beach, FL), a bases loaded walk by Landon Marshall (Huntington Beach, CA), and a three-run triple by Pierce Hollister (Dickinson, TX).

Panola hit three home runs in the win. Home runs for Panola came when Price homered in the first and third innings and McCurdy homered in the eighth inning.

Miguel Ausua (Penueals, PR) got it done on the mound on the way to a win. He allowed two runs over four innings. Ausua struck out three, walked none and gave up three hits.

Panola went up for good in the first, scoring one run on a solo home run by Price.
