Panola College takes 2 out of 3 from Paris JC

March 28, 2016 - Panola College won its 3rd conference series in a row last weekend, defeating Paris JC 7-6 but couldn't get the sweep by dropping the rubber game 3-4. Panola extends its overall record to 23-9 on the season and 6-6 in Region IV Conference play.  

Game #2
Paris took the lead in the seventh inning, and Panola was unable to muster a comeback, losing 4-3 in seven innings on Friday.

Jordan Gore (Silsbee, TX) racked up two RBIs on two hits for Panola. He homered in the fourth inning and singled in the sixth inning. Christian Cuevas (Bayamon, TX) ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He lasted just one inning, walked none, struck out one, and allowed one run. The top of the third saw Paris take an early lead, 1-0. Rodriguez kicked things off for Paris with a single. A groundout by Vangelder then moved Rodriguez from first to second. Murray singled, plating Rodriguez. The lead stayed with Paris after the seventh, when it scored one run on a solo home run by Nemecheck.

Game #3
Panola College outlasted Paris JC after six lead changes, squeaking out a 7-6 win.

Panola finally managed to grab the lead after a strong eighth inning. Panola scored on a two-run home run by Hector Morales (Royal Palm Beach, FL) off Hickey, scoring Josh Martinez (Atascocita, TX.) Morales racked up two RBIs on two hits for Panola. Josh Huffman (Gladewater, TX) got his first collegiate win for the Ponies. He allowed one run over one inning. The bottom of the second saw Panola take an early lead, 1-0. After Chandler Morris (The Woodlands, TX) singled, Chad Mckinney (Hughes Springs, TX) singled, plating Morales. Panola survived Paris' surge and put up two runs of its own in the third. Panola scored on a two-run home run by Logan Bailey (Hallsville, TX). After posting two runs in the sixth, Panola again scored two in the eighth. In the sixth, Panola scored on an RBI double by McKinney, scoring Morales.
