Paul Hancock to Speak at TAGHS on Wednesday

November 14, 2016 - Many area residents point with pride to the fact that their ancestors were among the earliest residents of Timpson, coming here around the time the city was established in 1885. However, some families have been in the area longer than that, arriving prior to Timpson being established, perhaps during the days of the Republic of Texas, others even before that. Paul Hancock, who will speak at the November meeting of the Timpson Area Genealogical and Heritage Society, falls into the latter group.

A 1951 graduate of Timpson High School, Paul Hancock grew up in the Waterman Community on  land whose deed was signed by Sam Houston. Though he now lives in Tyler, Paul still owns much of that land. A semi-retired home builder, Paul is a former History teacher who never lost his love for the subject. TAGHS invites everyone to hear Paul share his knowledge of pre-Timpson Shelby County history at 2PM on Wednesday, November 16  in the meeting room of the Timpson Public Libray on the corner of  Austin and Bremond Streets.
