November 21, 2024 - It began when Japanese aircraft appeared in the air over Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, just before 8am on Sunday morning, December 7, 1941. When the attack ceased shortly before 10am, less than two hours after it began, American forces had paid a fearful price. Eighteen (18) ships were either damaged or sunk, 180 aircraft were destroyed, 2,403 were dead, and thousands of others were wounded.
In honor and remembrance of those who served and died at Pearl Harbor 83 years ago, Shelby County Memorial Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 8904, and the Auxiliary will hold a wreath laying at Veterans Memorial, 1885 Historic Courthouse, at 10am on Friday, December 6, 2024.
As always, the public is cordially invited to attend.
