December 1, 2015 - Pineywoods Outreach Center is a non-profit youth center, nestled here in our Shelby county community to provide enrichment activities and services to all our youth. "Saving a Generation Ministry", was founded by Bishop WC Martin and his wife Lady Donna Martin when they decided to become actively involved in giving homes and families to children in the Texas foster system. Through their efforts, seventy (70) children have been adopted.
The Pineywoods Outreach Center was a miracle donation built for the "Saving a Generation Ministry", by Renovate Your Home after the Martin's appeared on the Oprah Show years ago. Although, it is a wonderful gift, each month the Center is scrambling for funds to pay for the water, utilities, lights, insurance, etc. to keep the facility open for the children. The Center does not receive any donations or funding at this time from the state or from the community. "Saving a Generation" keeps children engaged while parents work. The Martin's purchase the food for the after school program in order to serve a hot meal daily.
Pineywoods Outreach Center needs your help! This much needed program may have to come to an end if funds are not received immediately. Won't you find it in your heart this holiday season to help. All of you with like minds and all of you who can please join the effort and support this ministry on a monthly basis or in any way you can. If not monthly, a one time donation, your time or even non-perishable food items would be a great help. This will relieve the stress and allow an opportunity to plan for upcoming months of programming.
Presently, the Pineywoods Outreach Center is serving an average of 60 children a day, 4 days a week, Mondays through Thursday, 4pm to 6pm, in an after school program. Children receive help with their homework, participate in arts and crafts, cooking classes, photography, other enrichment activities and sports and recreational activities. The children are fed a hot meal daily. During the summer, Pineywoods Outreach Center serves 150 children for Day Camp activities, 4 days a week, Tuesday through Friday from 8am to 4pm and 3 meals a day.
