Rams Fall to Visiting Bulldogs in District 23 Basketball 43-36

The Garrison Bulldogs varsity basketball team jumped out to an early 9-0 point lead midway through the first quarter of Tuesday’s District 23 2A game with the Joaquin Rams. By the end of the first period Joaquin trailed with the Bulldogs ahead 11-4. Joaquin fought back in the second frame and outscored Garrison by a 14-9 margin but the Bulldogs still held a narrow 20-18 lead at the midway break.

Garrison built a 33-22 lead during the third frame by outpacing Joaquin 13-4 points by the end of the third quarter. Joaquin battled back to pull to within six points at 38-32 midway through the final frame but Garrison held on to take the 43-36 road win.

Garrison was led by Zac Carraway with 21 points. GHS is at 6-10 for the season and 1-5 in District 23.

 Joaquin was led by Bennett Anglin with 15 and Malik Stotts with 11 points. The Rams are 10-11 overall and with five District 23 2A games remaining their conference mark stands at 2-4. They will travel to Timpson on Friday, January 27, 2023 where sub-varsity action tips off at Bears Gymnasium at 4:30 p.m. and varsity action follows. Timpson is 6-1 in the conference.
