Joaquin Rams Gymnasium. February 14, 2020 –
The Joaquin Rams varsity basketball team won their final home game, by an 40-27 score, over the Martinsville Pirates on Friday. The Rams blew open a game that saw them lead only 25-21 at halftime by holding the Pirates scoreless in the third quarter while JHS went on a 12-0 run.
The third period saw Joaquin lead 35-21 and a Lorenzo Boogie Lane bucket at the start of the final stanza gave JHS a 37-21 advantage before MHS scored their first points of the second half.
Martinsville was able to outpace the Rams in the final period by a narrow 6-5 margin but this proved to be too-little-too-late.
The Rams were led by Lorenzo Lane with 13 points. The win boosted the Rams season record to 4-16.
The Rams will travel to Timpson for their final road game at Bear’s Gymnasium next Tuesday, February 18, 2020. Junior varsity will begin at 5 p.m. with varsity boy’s action to follow.
